The Beginning

Everything starts with a plan. Anything that is not thought out is not the best version of itself. That’s why my partner and I started with a brainstorm (plus it was required), that lists issues in our area that we can find an effective solution to.

We brainstormed 17 problems in our area that we wanted to solve.  After we debated about which problem was more important to us, we arrived at the consensus that jaywalking irritated us most.

Brainstorming Part 2

Now that we know what issue we want to address we had to think about how we can solve this issue in the most effective way.

Sometimes the best solutions are gathered from your peers, so in class we received anonymous solutions to our problem. While most of the solutions were unhelpful/irrelevant suggestions like “use crosswalks” and “don’t walk” we did get a couple that led us to our final solution.

What I Took Away From This Experience

This project gave me a small glimpse of what real businesses have to go through to start making their product or start their service. I also learned that anything important takes work, and you can’t forget about it and expect the other person to do all the work and still want to be a partnership.

Small Business Plan

Our business plan is a condensed version of the standard business plan, so it only contains the essentials. Here is our business plan. Our plans cover, an executive summary, a description of the problem, an explanation of our solution, our target market, our competitive advantage, management team, and our required funding.

Advertisement

For our advertisement we created a yelp page. Our yelp page is designed to give our potential customers a general overview of our service, while giving them insight into what other people have experienced with our business. Reviews are not just helpful for the potential users, but also for us to see what people are enjoying what they want to see changed.

 

Elevator Pitch

My elevator pitch discusses how jaywalking impacts our community, and includes facts and figures about traffic accident deaths in the U.S. caused by jaywalking. It also describes my business, Fine & Fine, and how it will operate.  Our elevator pitch explains how our OJPO or onsite jaywalking patrol officers, will function in our area and why our service is necessary.  I think we can all agree that jaywalking is an important issue to solve; however the police department has many more important issues to address. And that’s where Find & Fine comes into place.
